Corona Virus Update

Courts have full or near full staffing, as determined by space and work requirements, in accordance with safety protocols. Masks are now optional, but some social distancing continues.

Many court proceedings, including many routine motions and pretrial conferences, are being conducted by telephone, Zoom, email, or through the electronic filing system.  Trials, and other evidentiary hearings are generally  being held in person at the court house.

Avoid scammers offering to pay your rent.  If you’re facing eviction for any reason, there are organizations out there who can help you. But there are also fake “organizations” and “charities” who can hurt you.

What are lawyers really? To me a lawyer is basically the person that knows the rules of the country. We're all throwing the dice, playing the game, moving our pieces around the board, but if there's a problem, the lawyer is the only person that has actually read the inside of the top of the box.

A. Joseph Ross

The Law Office of A. Joseph Ross, J.D. is a civil practice concentrating in the areas of residential real-estate, including landlord-tenant, home purchases and sales, condominium associations, and housing discrimination.  We can make referrals to competent specialists in many other areas that we don't handle ourselves. We are also happy to consult or work with other attorneys in matters within our areas of expertise.

Sometimes we can help you with a brief telephone conversation at no charge. If not, an extended consultation, by telephone or by Zoom, is generally $135.00 for an hour.  An in-office conference is $175.00 an hour and may require COVID-19 precautions.  We generally charge a flat fee to represent clients in the purchase or sale of a home. We charge a contingent fee, usually with an up-front minimum, for civil litigation where we feel there is a good claim for damages. We charge an hourly rate for most other matters, including litigation where a contingent fee is not possible.

WE CANNOT ANSWER LEGAL QUESTIONS OR GIVE LEGAL ADVICE BY E-MAIL. Sending e-mail to this office does not, of itself, create an attorney-client relationship. DO NOT SEND CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION BY E-MAIL. It may not be secure against being intercepted by outsiders.
